Builder Theme: I am a builder when I demonstrate integrity.
„But he has nothing on at all,” said a little child at last. “Good heavens! listen to the voice of an innocent child,” said the father, and one whispered to the other what the child had said. “But he has nothing on at all,” cried at last the whole people. That made a deep impression upon the emperor, for it seemed to him that they were right; but he thought to himself, “Now I must bear up to the end.” And the chamberlains walked with still greater dignity, as if they carried the train which did not exist.“ — Hans Christian Andersen, The Emperor’s New Clothes
The child teaches us that people should be willing to speak up if they know the truth, even if they think that everyone else will laugh at them.

Virtual Parent Empowerment: Mental Health and Wellness
Among the many lessons learned during the last few years has been just how important it is to pay attention to our mental health and wellness as well as our physical health. In reality, our physical and mental health are intertwined. Most symptoms of mental illness emerge in the teenage-young adult years. Join us in our Virtual Parent Empowerment on Tuesday, October 11th at 7 pm as we explore what is mental health, how to identify symptoms of mental illness and how to get help, and the protective factors to help avoid serious issues. Students in the secondary grades will receive 2 tardy credits for each adult who attends this as well as for themselves. This topic is appropriate for students and parents so invite your students to participate with you. See you on zoom!

Sistema Notes ♪
Our Elementary Sistema Strings and Taiko Drum students had the privilege of performing at the Waterford Upstart Chalk the Walk Festival on Saturday. They did a wonderful job and Sistema enjoyed having a booth at the event.
Please check your student’s Alma regularly. We are approaching the end of this semester very soon which means that we will have our FIRST “NO MISSING HOMEWORK” incentive. Every Sistema student will earn a ticket to our special event if they have NO MISSING DAYTIME HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS when Mrs. Christensen pulls missing work reports on Friday, October 7th. Our incentive will be Monday, October 10th at 4 p.m. and will end at 5:40 p.m. where we will watch the movie “Vivo.” We hope to see MANY of our Sistema students at our incentive!
The next big event will also happen that week. Our FIRST BACH BUCK STORE! Please send your child with the Bach Bucks to school on Tuesday, October 11th. We will be counting Bach Bucks this day so that each student can receive their special ticket to go shopping at the Bach Buck store on Thursday.
We have NO SISTEMA this Wednesday as it is early dismissal for all students due to professional development. We will see everyone at our Bach Buck store Thursday.
Our Elementary Sistema Strings Students and Secondary Sistema Strings students will be going to Logan for our rehearsal this Friday, October 14th. We will practice with Dr. Sergio Bernal and the other students who will be guest performers the following weekend with the Utah State University Symphony Orchestra. If your child is involved in this event we will send a flier and permission forms.
Thank you so much for supporting our program!
