- As we near the end of the year and the collection of books, we would like to encourage parents to look through their students’ books. Please help your students erase pencil markings and have your students bring their books into the Curriculum Office for any repairs. Repairs include, but are not limited to, page rips, holes in pages, and spine separation. Please do not attempt to repair anything yourself as we have special book glues and tapes. This check will help you be aware of any damages and the condition of your student’s books and help your student’s teachers with this end of the year task.
- We will be conducting vision screenings for all students on April 19th and 26th at the WV2 and 3 Campus. The students will be given a distance vision test to see if they can see at a 20/30 level. We will notify you of the results of the test. If a student fails, you will receive a referral letter with more instructions.
Vision screening is not a substitute for an eye examination by an eye care specialist, and it is important that your child see an eye care specialist once a year to evaluate eye health.
If you do not wish your child to participate in the screening program, please EMAIL nurse@apamail.org (EXEMPTIONS ONLY). We need LOTS of parent volunteers to assist with vision screenings. A short 5 minute training is provided, and this is a great way to get in your volunteer hours! This is not a volunteer opportunity that will work to bring small children.
Please contact Karen Thelin kthelin@apamail.org 801-494-7446 with questions or if you are available to volunteer.
- Our land trust elections are coming up quickly and it’s time to start advertising to generate interest. Please insert the attached flyers to your digital newsletters and any other way you advertise to your families for the next 3 weeks, including posting on the school doors. We need to advertise the elections for 3 weeks to be compliant with the state rules. Our elections will start on May 5 and run through May 10. I will have a new newsletter blurb for you to run on May 5 with the election link. The election results will go in the May 12 newsletter.

Sistema Notes ♪
We have been working hard to learn our pieces for our end-of-year concert in May – hooray! Please ensure that your child attends their Sistema classes daily so they don’t fall behind in their classes. If your child is sick or has a previously scheduled appointment during after school hours, please call the Sistema office to let us know at 385-351-3090 x 1139 or email Mrs. Christensen at tchristensen@apamail.org. Each student has been invited to a Google classroom for instrument and singing classes. If your child has to miss Sistema or would like to practice at home, they can pull up their respective Google classroom at home. This can be accessed through their APA student email account. If your child participates in sports and Sistema, they MUST practice their music at home using Google Classroom to avoid falling behind in their music. Our end-of-year concert is quickly approaching, and we want to be sure they are prepared to perform.
We will also hold our grand finale and combined rehearsals on Thursdays in April and May. Please find the schedule below to add to your plan. We need each student in attendance to ensure we are ready to perform with Ocappella, who will be our guest artist.
