Food Drive

We CAN Care! Only 1 week left of our donation drive. So far we have collected 1,887 food items. Wahoo! It has been so exciting to see how much we can accomplish as we all work together. We can be advocates for those in our community that need us, and that is a very important part of being a Builder and an Ambassador for good. 

Let’s finish strong–keep bringing in those food items! The drive will end on Friday December 16th!  And, if we make our goal as a campus we’ll celebrate with a Crazy Sock Day for Secondary and a Crazy Sock and Tie Day for Elementary  on Tuesday, December 20th.

Hello APA Families, we are now accepting applications for NEW SIBLINGS (brothers & sisters only) and TRANSFERS. Lotteries for next school year will begin in January 2023. 

• NEW SIBLINGS: Must be 5yrs old by September 1st, 2023 to qualify for enrollment- no exceptions to this rule. This application is for brothers or sisters of students currently attending one of American Prep Schools.

Food Drive

We CAN Care!  Did you know that 9% of Utahns are worried about where their next meal will come from?  The good news is–we can help!  Our donation drive is now in full swing!  We accept CANS, boxes, or plastic-packaged food items. Please NO perishable items like fruits and vegetables and no glass containers.  Your students can bring donations to their elementary homeroom or secondary 4th period classroom.  

The food we collect will go to the Utah Food Bank, who will then pass it along to 230 partner agencies across the state, including food pantries, meals on wheels programs, backpack programs for schools, and walk-in cafeterias for those in need.

Campaña de donación anual

¡PODEMOS cuidarnos! Hay un picor helado en el aire, y eso significa que la campaña de donación anual de varios campus de la APA está a la vuelta de la esquina. ¡Cada campus, cada grado y cada salón de clases trabajarán juntos para combatir el hambre!

Este año estaremos recolectando alimentos para beneficiar al Banco de Alimentos de Utah. ¡El banco de alimentos proporciona 68,1 millones de comidas al año para ayudar a alimentar a los necesitados aquí mismo en nuestro propio estado! ¡Demostremos que nos importa asegurarnos de que nadie pase hambre en esta temporada navideña!

La campaña de donación comienza el 1 de diciembre y continúa hasta el 16 de diciembre. Los estudiantes deben traer donaciones a su salón de clases oa la clase del cuarto período. Familias de preparación americana

La semana pasada, una de nuestras estudiantes de WV3 sufrió la repentina pérdida de su madre. Debido a su situación familiar, ella se queda sola con la ayuda de su hermano, graduado de APA en 2020. Son responsables de todas las obligaciones financieras y los gastos funerarios, así como del cuidado de los miembros más jóvenes de la familia.

Annual Donation Drive

We CAN Care!  There’s a frosty nip in the air, and that means that APA’s multi-campus annual donation drive is just around the corner.  Every campus, every grade, and every classroom will be working together to fight hunger!  

This year we’ll be gathering food items to benefit the Utah Food Bank.  The food bank provides 68.1 million meals a year to help feed those in need right here in our own state! Let’s show we care by making sure no one goes hungry this holiday season!

The donation drive kicks off December 1st and continues through December 16th. Students should bring donations to their homeroom or 4th period class. We accept CANS, boxes, or plastic-packaged food items.  Please no glass, expired food, or perishable items.

     We have begun working on our Winter Concert music. It’s hard to believe that we are TWO AND A HALF WEEKS away from our performance! It is crucial for every Sistema student to attend regularly so that they can learn the music for this concert. We have a lot to do and are super excited to share our music with you. We invite you to attend our Winter Concert on Friday, December 9th, at 6 p.m., where we will celebrate the “Magic of Winter.” EVERY SISTEMA STUDENT WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN OUR WINTER CONCERT. In-person seating for the concert will be limited, so we are also offering a live-stream option. We also need volunteers for our concert. Please sign up here. We appreciate your support!

     We want to ensure everyone has our upcoming events and rehearsals on their family calendars. Please make a note of the following for November. We have also included the schedule for our December rehearsals and concert as well. We have also had a couple of campus revisions to the originally proposed school calendar that was shared with all of our Sistema families in August. We have included an updated calendar for you. Please note that December 19-20th there WILL be Sistema. We will have our no missing homework incentive on Monday, December 19th so the students will not want to miss this!

Macbeth Play

Join us for this year’s WV3 Fall play “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare. It will be performed on November 21st. Tickets are $8 for students or $10 for general admission which will be sold at the door. We hope to see you there! Black Box Theatre

American Prep Families★

Last week, one of our WV3 students suffered the sudden loss of her mother. Due to their familial situation, she is left to care for herself with the help of her brother, a 2020 APA graduate. They are responsible for all financial obligations and funeral expenses, as well as caring for younger members of the family.

We would like to help alleviate a bit of their stress and financial burden. The American Preparatory Education Foundation will be making a contribution to the family through our Hardship Fund. The Hardship Fund was developed for APA parents to help APA community members when facing a severe hardship. Funds in this account are distributed to APA community members as directed by the Board of Directors when they are notified of a critical need in the community. Needs may include costs for excessive medical care, funeral costs, or costs from other extreme situations. More information about the Hardship Fund can be found at www.americanprepfoundation.org/hardship-fund.

We have also set up a fundraising platform, allowing our APA community to contribute to the family. To make a donation using a credit card, please go to www.americanprepfoundation.org/wv3hardship. 

You can also make a donation through Venmo using the ID @FriendsofAPA. Cash and check (made payable to APEF) donations can be left with your school’s secretary. These options will assist in providing donations with zero or reduced fees. Donors have the opportunity to donate anonymously if they wish. 100% of the donations received from our APA community for this fundraiser will go to the family.

Character Development

It is time to Celebrate! The 6th grade is having their Celebration! ambassador event this Thursday November 17th. During this event students will rotate between 6 stations and learn important skills about Social Etiquette in a variety of situations. Activities will include fun party games, proper phone use, dining skills, and more! This event will go from 11:35 a.m. to 2:05 p.m. Please mark your calendars, your student won’t want to miss this! Felicidades a nuestros alumnos de Sistema Strings por el trabajo bien hecho. El viernes 21 de octubre actuaron con la Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Estatal de Utah. Nuestros alumnos de Sistema Strings de primaria interpretaron la Sinfonía “Sorpresa” de Haydn con la orquesta de la USU. Nuestros estudiantes de Secundaria Sistema Strings actuaron junto a la orquesta mientras tocaban la “Sinfonía del Nuevo Mundo” de Dvorak. Fue una velada mágica que todos recordarán para siempre.

Please join us for APA’s 7th Annual Holiday Boutique!

We are excited to announce that the American Preparatory Education Foundation is hosting its 7th Annual Holiday Boutique fundraiser on Friday, November 4 (3-8pm) and Saturday, November 5 (9am-4pm) at our Draper 3 campus. Funds raised from vendor fees and student entrepreneur booths will go to the APA Teaching Excellence Fund, a private reserve that helps to attain and retain our amazing APA teachers. 

If you haven’t attended the Holiday Boutique in the past, it’s a fun two-day event with performances by our students (we’ve already scheduled the Draper 3 Dance Team and Sistema students from West Valley 1 and West Valley 2 with more to come), a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus with photos available at a very reasonable price, letters to Santa, activities for kids, fundraisers by APA teams and organizations, and much more. There will be a bake sale, a hot chocolate bar, and additional options for purchasing food. And in addition to that, we will have many local artisans and businesses selling their products and services. Please check our website frequently for updates.

Once again, we welcome our student entrepreneurs to have a booth for just $10. And APA parents and staff members will receive a discounted rate of $50. The vendor fee for all others is $65 through Friday, October 21 and goes up to $80 beginning Saturday, October 22.
