Background - I have worked with family and youth for over 25 years in juvenile justice, mental health, and schools. I have been with APA since Fall 2012 and have fallen in love with all our APA families.
Hobbies - I like to spend time outside or snuggled inside with a good book or movie. I especially like to spend time with my family.
Background: I graduated from the University of Utah in 2008 and began my career as a 1st grade teacher, with APA, in 2009. I have been teaching 1st grade for more than 10 years and I feel incredibly grateful to continue to have unwavering love, passion, and adoration for what I do!
Hobbies: Spending time with my 2 young children and husband, crafting, traveling, and staying busy....whether I want to, or not.
Background: I grew up here in Draper, Utah. Following high school, I attended Dixie State University for one year as a Business major. Following this, I had the opportunity to go to China and teach. I fell in love with teaching! I decided to transfer schools and change my major to Elementary Education. I attended Brigham Young University. During this time, I also had the opportunity to teach English in Lithuania. After a year at BYUI, I decided to serve a mission for the LDS church. I went to Budapest, Hungary. Following my service, I came home to Utah and married my long time boyfriend Josh. I also needed to transfer schools one final time so Josh could keep his job here in Utah. I am now a student at Western Governor's University. I am in my last semester and I am doing my student teaching here at APA. Josh and I are expecting our first baby girl in one month. I love teaching here at APA!
Hobbies: spending time with my husband, traveling, hiking, yoga
Education: I graduated from Granger High School in June 2010. After high school I received my Bachelors of Arts from the University of Utah with a major in Human Development and Family Studies. While attending the University of Utah I did a study abroad in the Dominican Republic to study Spanish for a semester.
Background: Previously I worked 3 years as an after school group leader with Kindergarten through Second grade children. This is where I found my love for teaching and knew I wanted to become a teacher.
Hobbies: I love the outdoors! I like to go camping, hiking and on ATV adventures. I am always ready for a good road trip! Recently I drove Route 66 start to finish from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California.

Background: I was born and raised here in Salt Lake City, UT. I've played sports and danced since I was very little! I have about ten years' experience teaching competitive dance, cheer and tumbling, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. My husband and I have four daughters and a blind dog named Snickers.
Hobbies: I love to hang out with my family and my dog! I like to read, watch movies, and go on adventures!

Background: I knew in high school that I wanted to become a teacher and I love APA's philosophies and structure. I have been teaching third grade at APA for six years now and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I am also the District lead over third grade. I have learned so much from leading and mentoring all the 3rd grade teachers in the APA district.
Hobbies: A few interesting things about me are I love to scrapbook, I love to read books, and spend time with my family especially my little girl.

Background: As a kid, I grew up in Kearns, Utah and now live in Fruit Heights. After graduating from college, I worked as a mental health counselor in a treatment center for young adults and adolescents. I have been at APA for about 3 years. I started as a first grade instructor and then became a third grade teacher two years ago.
Hobbies: Working with animals, reading, gardening, spending time with friends and family

Background - I am originally from Washington state (Seattle area) but moved to Utah three years ago to teach school. I am a fourth grade teacher here at APA and I absolutely love it! I taught 3rd grade for 5 years prior, as well as other para-educator and substitute work in schools. I knew when I was 5 years old that teaching was a passion of mine and I was not wrong! I have a special place in my heart for students who struggle to see the purpose in their education and I love to help them love learning! My favorite subject to teach is math. Hobbies - I have lived all across the United States, including Texas, South Dakota, Michigan, Las Vegas, and the Pacific Northwest Area. I enjoy spending time with my husband and our adorable beagle. Together we like to go camping and watch movies. I also enjoy playing the piano, listening to music, and spending as much time possible with family and friends.
Background: I was born and raised in Missoula, Montana. I moved to Utah in 2006 when my husband had a job change. I have always loved working with kids and even owned a small after school business up in Montana. I love to hang out with my friends and be on the go.

Background: Professional Background: I graduated from high school a year early and spent my last year of high school living in South America learning Spanish and teaching English. When I got home I went to college and got a Paralegal degree and was going to law school when I decided that I missed teaching and I decided to become a teacher instead of a lawyer. After I graduated I worked at a charter school for 3 years before I moved to APA and I have been here for 3 years.
Family Background: I come from a large family with 12 children. My parents were very caring and supportive and my sibling and I are best friends. I got married when I was 20 years old after meeting a pretty awesome guy while living in Paraguay. We have one beautiful daughter named Rheesa who I am always very proud of.
Education - BS in Sociology from SUNY Albany and a Masters of Science in Elementary Education from the College of Saint Rose.
Background - I grew up in Guilderland, NY and had lived there most of my life. Living in New York, I had the opportunity to play sports all throughout my childhood, high school, and college. One of my favorite sports growing up was soccer, which I started at a young age. Another sport that I played was lacrosse and was able to get a scholarship and play in college. The school I attended was SUNY Albany where I played lacrosse and participated in many volunteer activities. Throughout my three years attending graduate school, I worked in a daycare. Starting as a teacher I was working my way to become the director of the daycare. I absolutely loved working with the infants and seeing them grow; watching them graduate from preschool and enter into the elementary setting. The spring I graduated from the College of Saint Rose I moved from Albany to Salt Lake City and started working for APA in the fall of 2013. This is my fifth year teaching at APA and I have loved every second of it. I have learned and grown as much as my students have.
Hobbies - Outside of school I am a HUGE fan of the outdoors. I love to hike, backpack, mountain bike, and ski. Last summer I hiked around 200 miles. It has been a fantastic opportunity moving and growing in Utah and I look forward to getting to know your students.
Education: I have an Associates Degree in Accounting and am continuing my education currently. I hope to graduate in the near future with my Bachelors Degree in Marriage and Family Studies.
Background: I have a background in Medical Office management and medical billing. I love working with people, but especially kids!
Hobbies: I enjoy cycling and Triathlons. I love organizing and paper and wood crafts. I LOVE Math (in fact, I'm taking an Algebra class now, just for fun!) I enjoy being with my family and playing games.

Background: oldest of 3 children, one brother, one sister. Big extended family, grew up with 4 other cousins living at home. raised by single mom. Live in the same house my mom and grandmother lived. Did dance, choir, and drama all through jr. high and high school.

Background - I am a second grade instructor at APA West Valley 2 campus. I am in my third year of instructing. I love working with the students and teaching them useful skills that will help them be the best they can be. I am excited to be working with the 2nd grade team and I know it’s going to be a great year!

Background: I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the US when I was 11 years old. I did not speak a word of English so I had to work really hard to learn this new language. It was very difficult being around people who spoke a different language than I did but I made it a goal to learn. I watch English TV only and read lots of books. I started on kindergarten level until I was able to read and write. It took me a whole year to become fluent in English. Now as an adult I am really happy I was able to learn another language because I can help others who are in a similar situation as I was. I lived in a small city called Reading in Pennsylvania. It is the home of PennState University, Temple University and the Philadelphia Eagles. I lived there until my 21st birthday then got married and moved to Las Vegas, NV. I lived in Vegas for 12 years with my little family and it was pretty awesome but SUPER hot in the summers. Last year my husband got a new job and we moved to Utah. It's been a very nice change even with the snow during winter.
Hobbies: I love baking and cooking! I cook anything and everything I can get my hands on! I love making cakes, cookies, and especially bread. My goal is to find the hardest things to cook or bake and I work on it until I perfect it! I love, love Calligraphy so every night I work of my handwriting skills. I love decorating and doing DIY projects. I love learning and creating beautiful things.

Background: I was raised in Utah and love the mountains and adventure surrounding us here. I spent several years living in different places around the world in school, nannying and serving. Learning Spanish and Russian, I grew to love experiencing new cultures and the unique experiences I gained from being out of my comfort zone.
Hobbies: Trying new things, being outdoors, learning to sew and being with my family.
Education: I attended Weber State University where I earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Human Performance Management with emphasis in Fitness and Nutrition. I earned a Secondary Teaching License with an Endorsement in Physical Education Grades K-12.
Background: I grew up in Laketown, UT which is located just one mile south of Bear Lake. My father is a Cattle Rancher and my mother taught 5th grade. I enjoyed taking dance classes from my mom as a child and working on the ranch with my Dad. I also enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball in junior high and high school for my schools' teams and played on volleyball club teams in Logan and Odgen, Ut. I was able to earn academic and sports scholarships while attending Weber State University. I played on Weber State's Division 1 Varsity Women's Volleyball Team for 4 years while achieving my degree.
Hobbies: I enjoy hanging out with my fun family any chance I can get. I like to go on family trips. I enjoy physical activity, reading, baking goodies, watching movies, and I like to play piano even though I am only a beginner level player.
Background - I have been working at Apa for 14 years. I have worked at all of the Draper campuses as well as West Valley 2. For the last two years, I have been working in the high school office. This year I have returned as the elementary art teacher and Art foundations 2 high school teacher.

Education: Currently working on a double major in Child Development and Behavioral Psychology. Will be done with the child development side of my major by the end of this school year.
Background: Worked as a Dance teacher, theatre teacher, and as a music teacher. Tutored in both math and literature. Worked on a volunteer basis in classroom settings at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, with children who have autism spectrum disorder. Outside of school settings I have done work in construction, worked in restaurant and coffee shop settings, and done volunteer work at hospitals, nursing homes, and Summer camp counseling with the Boys and Girls Club.
Hobbies: Rock climbing, theatre, singing, learning to play new instruments, dance, art, photography, hiking, trail running, writing, reading, yoga, learning new languages and about the cultures the languages themselves come from

Background: I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and began exploring music at the age of 5 when observing my friend's Suzuki violin lessons. At the age of 8 I began to play the violin studying traditionally through orchestra in school and later converting to the Suzuki Method when studies began with Esther Larsen. I have received Suzuki teacher training from Jeanne Grover, Ed Kreitman, Linda Fiore, Allen Lieb and Bill Starr. I believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn music and has witnessed the magic of Dr. Suzuki's mother-tongue method from working with her children who have been learning string instruments.
Hobbies: Music is my passion and I love to play my violin! In addition to music, I love cooking, shopping and listening to books on tape.
Background: For the past three years Mr. Mckee has worked for the After School Department at West Valley 1, He now works for the After School Department for West Valley 2, as well as assisted in the Pre-School/Daycare in the mornings.
Hobbies: Movie buff, Trivia, Professional Wrestling
