Background: I grew up in Holladay, UT and I have always enjoyed sports, skiing and camping. I attended Skyline High School and then enrolled at the University of Utah. After an LDS Spanish speaking missing to Connecticut I transferred to Brigham Young University where I finished my undergraduate degree in Psychology. In 2017 I received a masters degree from Central Michigan University in Education Leadership. I have been working at American Prep since 2008 and I cannot think of a better, more fulfilling career. I love working with our wonderful students and exceptional staff. Every year we seem to improve our school and we become a more unified school community. I am grateful to be a part of this incredible academy.
Hobbies: My favorite thing to do is spend time with my wife and our four children. We love taking little trips and going fun places together. I enjoy being active and try to find time to ski, hike and camp. Though I am slower now, I still play soccer competitively.

Background: I grew up in West Valley City, Utah and attended Hunter High School. In 2001, about the same time that I started on my post high school education, I married my wife. The two of us have five wonderful children that range from 18 to 10 years old. I have been working with APA since 2008. I have loved working with the children in our communities and look forward to many more years of service.
Hobbies: I love fishing, I love basketball, and I love learning.

Background: I have worked with family and youth for over 25 years in juvenile justice, mental health, and schools. I have been with APA since Fall 2012 and have fallen in love with all our APA families.
Hobbies: I like to spend time outside or snuggled inside with a good book or movie. I especially like to spend time with my family.

Background: I was born and raised in Utah. I come from a fairly large family and love the time I spend with my five siblings and my own little family of five. I served an LDS Mission in southern Chile and loved my time learning the culture and working with amazing people. I worked in health care administration for a few years at an assisted living center and home health care company. I have been with APA since 2012 and love my experience with the students and staff here.
Hobbies: I am a sports enthusiast and enjoy anything that has a ball. I absolutely love being outdoors climbing, rappelling and hiking. My Disneyland is actually Zion National Park.
Education: MBA- Business Management with a minor in Finance
Background: After serving in the United States Army for a number of years and playing semi-professional baseball I pursued a career in business. I have operated my own business as a Business and Financial Consultant for more than 18 years. During those 18 plus years I've had a very diverse working experience.
In 2015 I was convinced to leave the boardroom and enter the classroom to teach in Wendover, Utah. I taught for 3 years and coached baseball. During my time as a business teacher, I covered the entire business curriculum, teaching over 20 different classes every school year. After 3 years I returned to the business world for one year after which I felt that I needed to look into the education field again and started with American Preparatory Academy. I have so far enjoyed getting to know students and working with the staff and administration of the school.
Hobbies: I am a baseball fanatic. I always say that it is my sirens' call. I work with youth groups and women's organizations teaching them what I call Warrior Combat Defense which is a modified self-defense technique from what I learned in the military.
Education: Bachelor's Degree from Snow College in Commercial Music with an emphasis on Composition. K-12 teaching accreditation from Weber State University.
Background: I have written music for plays, short films, video games, feature length films, music libraries, and live performance for many ensembles. I play several instruments, and have taught orchestra classes, private lessons, and conducted both large and small symphonic ensembles. While tutoring music theory students in college, I discovered my love for teaching. My passion is helping students learn lifelong lessons about teamwork, responsibility, and good character, and I have done this through music teaching as well as in the traditional classroom setting.
Hobbies: I enjoy writing film music with my husband and playing rock music with a professional string quartet around Utah.

Background: "Although much of my teaching experience has been the corporate world, my first love has always been teaching writing, so I'm very pleased to have escaped to a better place at APA. For about ten years, I made a living as an illusionist, appearing primarily in the western United States. Some favorite gigs were performing with the Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake and touring for a season with Odyssey Dance Theater's ""Thriller"" program. More recently, I returned to creative writing. My first novel made it to #1 on Amazon and I have since published three more novels and a dozen short stories under the pen name Michael Darling. Because Neverland is always closer than you think."
Hobbies: Travel, reading, board gaming, and cooking
Background: I was born and raised in Salt Lake City and am an APA graduate. I graduated from BYU in Humanities with an English literature emphasis, and a minor and certificate in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages).
Hobbies: I love yoga and being active, hiking, reading, writing, and meeting new people!
Background: I grew up in Los Angeles, California and moved to Utah in 2015 to attend Brigham Young University. In 2020, I was blessed enough to be a first generation college graduate. Throughout my educational journey, many mentors have helped me get to where I am today. I hope to reciprocate that service to future generations and help students pursue and reach their educational goals.

Background: I attended Dominican University of California, in the Bay Area, where I received my bachelors degree. After graduating I attended California State University Long Beach, where I received my teaching license in secondary social science.
Hobbies: I am an avid snowboarder and have always loved the outdoors. I enjoy yoga, watercoloring, and excising with my kids.

Background: I was born and raised in Idaho and learned about hard work at a young age on my family's potato farm. I have also lived in Arizona and served an LDS mission that brought me to Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. I am a proud big sister to 5 siblings and married to my best friend since 2017.
Hobbies: I love listening to podcasts or audiobooks about history, politics and true crime. I love going on road trips, spending time with family and board games. I LOVE trivia. Learning about random trivia or playing trivia games and watching shows like Jeopardy is a lot of fun to me.

Background: I moved to Utah with my husband in 2013. This is my 4th year teaching Latin with American Preparatory Academy. I come from a military family and have lived in Texas, New York, and New Mexico.
Hobbies: I enjoy reading, writing, music, fitness, cooking, hiking/camping, and playing with my dog.

Background: Academic specializations include Greek and Latin philology, Classical Archaeology (with excavation experience in Roman-occupied Nabatea, in modern-day Jordan), and Classical Mythology (focusing primarily on modern reception of Classical myths).
Hobbies: Hobbies include reading books of all genres (though I take particular delight in Victorian Gothic fiction), baking, and visiting museums.

Background: For six exciting months, I worked at Walt Disney World in Florida. My roles there included cooking thousands of turkey legs a day and performing in the evening parades as Goofy. Most of my working years were spent in a grocery store back in Iowa, where I eventually became a chef.
Hobbies: My favorite hobby is hiking. When I'm not in the mountains, I enjoy reading, cooking, and writing.

Background: For over ten years, I have taught Latin to 5th graders, university students, and everyone in between. I have spent most of those years with 7th-12th grade students. I have been blessed to study and work with some of the most renowned classicists and Latin teachers in the country.
Hobbies: My husband and I spend most of our free time cooking our favorite recipes and trying new restaurants.

Background: I was born and raised in Bulgaria and can speak, read, and write in Bulgarian. In 2004, my family and I moved to California where I finished my K-12 education, attended community college and university. I graduated from San Jose State University in 2018. Two days after graduation, I packed up and moved to Utah. I have been working at APA since 2018. I worked as an elementary instructor for 3 years before moving to secondary.
Hobbies: I love playing video games and board/card games with friends, watching baseball, and attending concerts and hockey games. On the weekends, I enjoy bowling, cross-stitching while listening to music, and watching tv. I have also become very fond of fountain pens.
Background: I started at APA in 2018 at our West Valley One campus. While there I was a groups instructor and the yearbook advisor. In 2020 I transferred to our West Valley Two campus as a secondary math teacher. I have three associate degrees and a BA in education with an emphasis in mathematics.

Background: My first job out of college was as an environmental engineer at US Steel. After that, I was a real estate broker for 15 years in California, taught Real Estate and Finance for eight years at College of the Canyons, and even taught high school at the Utah State prison for a year. Raising my four children also took some time.
Hobbies - I live on a tiny farm and spend my summers and weekends weeding the garden, thinning the orchard, and tending the chickens. I'm hoping to add bees to the farm next year. I also love hanging out with my three grandchildren, playing with my dog, Toby, and sitting by the ocean whenever I get the chance.

Hobbies: I enjoy a wide variety of things. I love to be out in nature, doing things such as hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing. I like playing games, and have even created a few card/board games of my own. Most of all, I love spending time with my family, whether it's going on an adventure, or cozying up at home.

Background: I have always enjoyed math as long as I can remember. I worked as a Math tutor when I was in college, and all of my students asked why I was not their Math teacher. Here I am, a Math teacher!
Hobbies: I love drawing, sewing, and photographing. I was a professional Chinese chess player.

Background: I have always loved being a teacher, I started out as a dance teacher, where I taught ballet, jazz, hip hop and tumbling. I coached for many Utah high school drill teams and dance companies over a span of 15 years. While I was coaching I attended Salt Lake Community College, where I received an associate’s degree in general studies with an emphasis on mild to moderate special education. I continued my education at Western Governors University with a focus on secondary 5-12 grade Mathematics. I have been in a secondary math classroom either as a tutor, substitute or teacher for over 10 years.
Hobbies: I love, reading, swimming, being in the sun, and spending time with my 3 kids!

Background: I am an only child who grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I attended a visual and performing arts high school, where I performed in concert band and philharmonic orchestra as a flautist. I was accepted Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA under the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program. After a year in Washington, I transferred to the University of Utah to get my degree from a nationally ranked mathematics program. I finished my degree at the University of Utah in 2014 and starting working at APA after graduation.
Hobbies: When I am not at school, I enjoy playing board games with friends. I also love getting outdoors and rock climbing in the canyons. To relax, I enjoy cross-stitching and baking. Over school breaks, I love to travel, whether it be a road trip to Zions or across the world.

Background: I grew up moving between Maryland and California, but I claim Southern California as home. I ran cross country and track in high school and at the University of Texas in Austin. I transferred to the University of Utah after my first year at Texas and started teaching at APA right after graduating in 2020.
Hobbies: I like playing pickle ball on the weekends with my husband, baking chocolate desserts, going to the beach, and doing anything in the sun. On quiet evenings, I enjoy playing card games and watching Disney movies.
Education: Bachelors in Chemistry and Thesis Masters in Analytical Chemistry
Background: My entire family is full of different scientists, so my love for science began early as a child. I grew up in Houston, TX but spent my adult years in Pittsburgh, PA where I attended Seton Hill University and Duquesne University where I earned a Bachelors in Chemistry and a Thesis Masters in Analytical Chemistry. I developed my love for teaching while attending graduate school where I was a TA for four years. I moved to Utah in June of 2021 because my husband and I are avid skiers and am so happy to be teaching for an incredible school.
Hobbies: My favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband and my Bernese mountain dog, Pear. I also enjoy skiing, reading, and traveling.

Background: I have been a Core Knowledge and Classical Education Science Teacher since the 2010 -2011 school year. I love teaching science. I have taught elementary, middle and high school science. I enjoy learning and teaching life science and anatomy and physiology. Before becoming a science teacher I worked in the information technology and pharmaceutical industries. I am a licensed teacher in both Colorado and Utah.
Hobbies: My hobbies include water color painting, family history and reading historical fiction.
Background: I am from the San Francisco Bay Area. I've worn many hats over the last several years. I worked as a researcher in the areas of physics and electrical and computer engineering throughout my undergraduate and graduate career in addition to being a TA for undergraduate and graduate courses. After finishing my masters degree I went to work as an electrical engineer. Although I found the job engaging I would always look back on my time in college teaching most fondly. I quit my job as an engineer in 2019 to pursue teaching full time and joined APA in 2020.
Hobbies: I enjoy anything outdoors. In addition I like to tinker with robots in my free time and brew my own beer.
Education: PhD in Chemistry from the University of Utah BS in Chemistry from Westminster College
Background: I have always had a fascination learning about the world around me and how it works. I earned a bachelor's degree and PhD in chemistry. In graduate school my research focused on atypical uses of DNA in nanotechnology. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I found I also had the opportunity to teach various study sections and labs. I am excited to teach at APA and share the excitement of science with my students.
Hobbies: I love being outdoors, exploring and hiking in the mountains. I also enjoy cooking and creating new recipes.

Background: Experienced Interpreter, with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I am skilled in Science Education, Curriculum Development, Ecology and Science (with more focus on Biology/Life Science). I believe learning is a lifelong process that enhances our understanding of the world we live in and beyond. My passion for teaching and learning began while working as a TA at the University. Since than I have been a part of both informal as well as structural teaching-learning setting.
Hobbies: Besides reading fictions, cooking and baking is something that keeps me sane and happy. I also love camping and travelling.

Background: I've always loved running and playing sports. I competed in Track and Field throughout high school and loved every second of it. I also enjoy other sports and love pushing my body to be better. I've always wanted to find a profession to help others (and myself) reach the highest potential. I feel like I have found just that in this awesome institution.
Hobbies: Family is #1 for me. I love hanging out, going on road trips, and playing games with my family. I love doing fun runs/Spartans/Tough Mudders etc. with my awesome wife. I also enjoy playing guitar when I make time for it.

Background: I taught health and PE at American Heritage of South Jordan for 5 years from 2005-2010, and have since spent the last 7 years working in health and wellness, doing exercise testing and health screenings.
Hobbies: I enjoy sports of all kinds, especially basketball and football. My favorite activity when I have time is cycling. I like participating in organized rides and I try to do at least one century (100 mile ride) every year.

Background: I grew up in Michigan and Virginia with my parents, older brother, and sister before attending James Madison University. While in school I studied public health education and substance abuse prevention. After graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Health Science in 2018, I obtained my teaching license through Old Dominion University. I taught 7th and 8th grade Health & PE in Northern Virginia for two years before joining APA in 2021.
Hobbies: Traveling to new places and spending time with my adorable nieces!!

Background: I am a Suzuki Certified Violin Teacher, teaching up to Book 7 and in the summer will certify up to Book 9. I have experience as a violin teacher in school with kindergarten children, and as a violin and orchestra teacher in elementary and high school from 2006 - 2013 in Ecuador. I taught violin classes in a music Conservatory from 2010 -2013, where I graduated as a teacher in 2011. I continue to practice the profession of being a violin teacher and was also a member of the Symphonic Orchestra of Guayaquil-Ecuador from 2003 to 2013. I live in Midvale and am from Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Background: I'm originally from Sacramento, Ca., and I have a wife and three wonderful children. I served a mission for the LDS church in Kiev, Ukraine. After my time in college, I spent many years in New York City where I worked as an actor and theatre professional. Here in Utah I work as an actor, voice-over artist, theatre company managing director, and now teacher.
Hobbies: Gardening, Model ship, car, and plane building, camp and archery.

Background: I grew up in the Salt Lake City area, but have lived in and traveled to much of the world. I served an LDS mission to Switzerland and speak German. I pursued a career in executive level management in large international businesses, traveling the globe and living with my wife and seven children in the U.S. Midwest, Bangkok Thailand/Indochina, and Jakarta Indonesia. I am also a serial entrepreneur in a variety of creative ventures. I have been active in music performance and education my entire life, including as a private vocal coach, and recently singing for several years with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Background: I've lived in Utah for the past 17 years with my husband and two dogs, Mercury and Izzy. I have been teaching and playing professionally with the Ballet West Orchestra and, on occasion, the Utah Symphony. I love to trail run, backpack, and try out new restaurants in the city. I've been teaching at APA for the past 6 years and love working with the students every year!

Background: I am originally from Colorado and love living so close to the mountains in the Salt Lake Valley with my family. During my time in college I had the opportunity to dance with the multiple touring companies - performing across the United States, Costa Rica, Panama, and Indonesia. I have taught dance in Colorado, Washington, Idaho, and Utah and love watching my students become dance artists. I have trained in and teach modern dance, ballet, jazz, tap, ballroom, world dance, and musical theater. Currently, I rehearse and perform with several professional contemporary dance companies in the Salt Lake area and enjoy working on my own technique and movement so that I can further mentor my students.

Background: I was born and raised in Las Vegas Nevada and moved to Utah after high school to study at the U. I started taking clarinet lessons in 10th grade and soon after decided I wanted to study music in college. Music has always been a big part of my life.
Hobbies: Utah has made me appreciate the outdoors so I love hiking, going to lakes, and skiing in the winter time. I also try to take any opportunity to play in community orchestras around the valley.
Background: I claim homage to both Canada and the United States as I was born in Alberta Canada, but moved to the east coast in the US at a young age. I still go home to Canada and Maryland as often as I can. I came out west to follow my scholarship for college and have been here ever since. I worked for an adolescent teen live in center helping youth find support systems in and outside of their home as well as planning large scale events to help fund the non profit. I have specialized in ABA therapy and developmental disorders. My personal passion led me to study eating disorders and anti-diet culture. I love working with youth and enjoy the variety of my work at APA!
Hobbies: Weight lifting, boxing, hiking, baking, writing, reading, cheesy movies with my pup and all the traveling I can plan.

Background: I was born in California and moved to Utah when I was a teenager. I attended college at Weber State University and graduated in 2018. My career started in mental health, specializing in OCD and anxiety disorders. In 2020 I transitioned to the education system, where I began as a counselor in a residential and vocational training program. My passion is working with the teenage and young adult demographic. My ultimate professional goal is to obtain licensure to practice sport and performance psychology.
Hobbies: Sports and exercise, outdoor activities, writing, and binge watching tv shows.

Background: I was a Stay at Home Mother of 7 children until I was in my fifties. Then I decided to to finish my degree at Brigham Young University. I worked in the Behavior Unit at Taylorsville High School before obtaining my teaching certificate and moving to American Preparatory Academy.
Hobbies: My family and students here at APA are where I dedicate most of my time. I also enjoy reading, quilting, church associations, and service work.
Background: Before transitioning to American Prep, I worked in healthcare and specialized with helping people with Alzheimer's Disease.
Hobbies: In my free time I like to bake, hike, kayak, travel, crochet, and adventure. In the summer, I volunteer as a director and counselor at summer camps for teens with type 1 diabetes in Stanley, Idaho.

Background - I grew up in the South and moved to Utah when I was 18. My first real job was working at Target and I loved it so much that I stayed there for 20 years. Working at Target gave me the opportunity to learn many different thing, but the most important was customer service. I came to APA in 2017, scared to start this new chapter in my life, but excited. I love working with students and families! I pride myself on knowing student names and who their parents are.
Hobbies: I love to craft and go camping with my family. I a "boy mom" and they keep me on my toes!
