I am a builder when I am willing to try and believe in my ability to succeed
In the field of organizational behavior, a belief in oneself to accomplish a specific task is known as self-efficacy. This concept is important because it is a strong predictor of task accomplishment, which makes a lot of sense. If you don’t believe you can do a task, you won’t try! And, if you don’t try, you will obviously fail at the task. Keep believing and keep trying until you accomplish your task.

Love and Logic Parent Class – March 21st, 6:30pm-8pm
The Love and Logic approach to parenting is built around the science of caring and respectful relationships. An authentic, loving connection between parents and their children forms the foundation of good behavior and healthy decision-making. We use these principles at our school every day and are excited to be able to offer FREE classes to our families at APA so they can begin to parent the Love and Logic Way. We started our first course in APA on Monday, February 7 in the afternoon, but there is still time to join the group of classes in Spanish next Monday, February 14, if you register in the QR code below this paragraph and attend from 5:30pm for a review of the 1st session.

Hello Parents, APA is preparing for our Annual Multicultural Festival on April 16th, 3-5pm. We will have food, performances, vendors and lots of fun! All students and families are WELCOME. You are also welcome to bring cultural food for people to sample or food to sell. If you choose to bring food, you will need your own serving materials and a way to keep the food at the desired temperature. If you would like to participate, please email lpetherbridge@apamail.org. We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful event!
Congratulations!!

Childcare Employment Opportunity
American Preparatory Academy provides a low-cost childcare service for all of their employees and is housed within the WV2 campus. Not only is this program affordable but it is also a high-quality childcare experience for their children. Our staff say that due to this incredible service, they can now afford childcare, and have a peace of mind that their children are being very well taken care of. This service allows them to provide an amazing education for your children!
We are in desperate need of Childcare Providers to care for their children in our program. The positions can be full time or part time, between the hours of 7:00 – 4:30, Monday – Friday. This is a great way to give back to your child’s teachers by caring for their children while they spend tireless hours teaching your children. If we are not able to fill these positions, we may not be able to continue to offer this amazing service to our teachers. If you would be interested in working in our staff childcare program and are qualified for this position, or know of someone that is, please contact Jennifer Brown at jennifer.brown@apamail.org or go to our APA website (https://www.americanprep.org/careers/) and fill out an application.

APA Reading and Math Lesson Video Bank
Did you know that there are videos for our math lessons on the APA website? This way, if your student is sick for a few days or if they just need another repetition of the teacher teaching it, to get their homework done, they can get the help they need. Just click on the math level your student is and click on the lesson, located on the left-hand side. https://www.americanprep.org/math-and-reading-lessons/
After School Programs
Hello American Preparatory Families!
Congratulations to our Sistema students that completed 100 and 200 homework assignments. They all received a special certificate this week. Well done! Our goal is to complete 20,000 homework assignments afterschool by the end of the school year. We have completed nearly 13,000 assignments thus far. We will have a no missing homework incentive from term 4 on Friday, April 1st. Please check your child’s learning plan daily to help them to stay current with their assignments.
Please make sure your child has their instrument with them every day. We are beginning to learn Spring Concert music and every student needs to be able to participate to be able to perform in the concert. If you see your child, come out to the car with their instrument, please make sure that it is brought inside and not left in the car. The cold winter temperatures could cause harm to the instruments and some might even crack or break due to the weather. I suggest placing their instrument by their backpack as they are getting ready for bed to make sure that it does not get forgotten.
Dates to Remember
- March 22-NO Sistema-Early dismissal for professional development
- March 25-End of Term 4 (ALL missing work must be turned in this day to be eligible for the “no missing homework” incentive)
- March 31-Bach Buck Store
- April 1-Term 4 “No Missing Work” Incentive Day
- April 4-8-Spring Break- No School and No Sistema
- May 19-Mandatory Dress Rehearsal for Spring Concert 3-5:30pm

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Annual Fun Run – American Preparatory Education Foundation
We will be holding our annual Fun Run Fundraiser on Saturday, May 7th at Daybreak Lake in South Jordan. The Fun Run is our biggest fundraising event of the year. Not only is it important for raising funds for a great cause, but also as a community building event.
This year we have chosen to raise funds for the APA Teaching Excellence Fund, a private reserve that helps us to attain and retain great teachers. As a charter school we receive less money than the local public schools do, and unlike the public schools, we are not able to raise property taxes to bring in more money when it’s needed. Great teachers play an invaluable role in the lives of our children, and although we will never be able to pay them what they are truly worth, through the APA Teaching Excellence Fund, we can try to get them closer.
We are looking for sponsors and silent auction donations. If you would like to sponsor our event or make a contribution to the silent auction, or if you know a local business that would, please contact us at funrun@americanprepfoundation.org or (801)661-1928. In the past we’ve received items from APA parents, local businesses, University of Utah, BYU, Utah Jazz, theaters and more. If you have a connection to anyone from those organizations or others and would be willing to ask for a donation or sponsorship, it would be greatly appreciated. If you have a connection, but would prefer that our committee reach out to them, please contact us. We have a lot of fun activities and incentives planned for our students. We are very excited about it! The links to register, become a business sponsor, are at https://www.americanprepfoundation.or/annual-district-fun-run/ Thank you for being a part of this fundraiser. We are very appreciative of you!
USBE Special Needs Scholarship Opportunity
School districts and Charter schools are required by Utah Law, 53A1a-704(10), to inform parents of students with IEPs enrolled in public schools, of the availability of a scholarship to attend a private school through the Carson Smith Scholarship Program. The Carson Smith Special Needs Scholarship Program (CSS) provides tuition assistance for those who would qualify for special education and related services in public schools, preschool eligible special needs students enrolled in ineligible private schools. The scholarship is for students through 12th grade (3-21 year of age), whose parents choose an eligible private school. For more information on the scholarship, deadline schedule and funding schedule, please visit https://www.schools.utah.gov/specialeducation/programs/carsonsmithscholarship
School Lunch Update – https://www.americanprep.org/3-8-22-school-lunch-update/
We hope your students are enjoying the meals provided by the school lunch program! We wanted to make parents aware of how elementary lunches are served. To facilitate easy delivery, the main dish and fruit are put in a bag, along with the snack that is sometimes included. The vegetable milk and condiments are not included in the bag, but are provided in the caddy or cart. The lunch staff carefully tracks and adjusts the vegetable servings to provide enough for each student who would like them. If there is a shortage of milk, vegetables, or condiments, students are welcome to go to the lunchroom to get what is needed. We welcome parent feedback, and have a new form for parents to let us know about their concerns or problems. If you choose to include your contact information, the lunch staff will follow up with you, or you can complete the form anonymously. https://forms.gle/Ae6ULgLHorTKcwki6

APA Multicultural Festival
Hello Parents, APA is preparing for our Annual Multicultural Festival on April 16th, 3-5pm. We will have food, performances, vendors and lots of fun! All students and families are WELCOME. We are looking for families to come and present information about their country of origin. We will provide a table to use and you may bring whatever you’d like as a visual representation. You are also welcome to bring cultural food for people to sample or food to sell. If you choose to bring food, you will need your own serving materials and a way to keep the food at the desired temperature. If you would like to participate, please email lpetherbridge@apamail.org. We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful event!
Student Uniforms
Students need to be in the correct uniforms, for their grades. Name tags are a part of the uniform and students must wear them every day at school. If a student is missing their name tag, they can purchase a new one at the front office for $5. Click on the link for the uniform guide https://www.americanprep.org/topic/uniforms/
Instructors Needed
Our Campus is in need of Instructors. We gladly welcome our APA families or friends that would like to come and be a part of our elementary team. If you are interested, click the link to fill out an application. https://www.americanprep.org/careers/

After School Programs
Hello American Preparatory Families!
We’re looking forward to our Sistema Ensemble and our high school performances of Little Women. Our students have worked diligently to showcase their talents and we are very proud of them!
Congratulations to our Sistema students that completed 100 and 200 homework assignments. They all received a special certificate this week. Well done! Our goal is to complete 20,000 homework assignments afterschool by the end of the school year. We have completed over 12,000 assignments thus far.
- March 16 – No Afterschool Programs (No Sistema and No Collegium Hall)
- March 22-NO Sistema-Early dismissal for professional development
- March 25-End of Term 4 (ALL missing work must be turned in this day to be eligible for the “no missing homework” incentive)

The links to register, become a business sponsor, are at https://www.americanprepfoundation.org/annual-district-fun-run/ Thank you for being a part of this fundraiser.
The scholarship is for students through 12th grade (3-21 years of age), whose parents choose an eligible private school.
